ANSC 3613 for the Web  -Nutritional Management of Domestic Animals (Feeds and Feeding).

Welcome

This course is designed to provide the student with a basic understanding of animal feeding and nutrition.  There a many facets to this area of animal science that will require the student to have some background in chemistry, biology, and mathematics.

The textbook  is very well written and serves as a comprehensive information resource for this course.  You are expected to read assigned readings.    There is a lot of information to "digest" in this course, much of which is hard facts that you will have remember.  However, there many concepts that must be understood in order for gain a basic understanding of animal feeding and nutrition.

I suggest that you read the text before turning on your computer.  The major topics of discussion, which may be in  a Power Point format for some but not all chapters.   A certain number of quizzes will be for a grade; however, there will be several practice quizzes that are designed to to allow you to assess your knowledge as you prepare for an examination.

Completing the "homework" discussion questions and problems are essential.  These assignments are designed so that you can apply your knowledge.  Remember I said some of the information your will just have to remember, but there are many nutritional concepts that must be mastered.

You should check the web site http://blackboard.clt.astate.edu/  several times per week, if not daily, for assignments and announcements.  Also, this is the site where you will access all of quizzes that you will be taking for a grade.

PLEASE PLEASE do not hesitate to seek help from me.  It is very important that you do not get discouraged.  Email, call, or come by and I will give individual attention to you as long as you need it.  It's my job.  I do want you to succeed in this course!
