I began what became the International Directory of Photography Historians and is now called simply PhotoHistorians in the fall of 1987.  For a number of years it existed as an annual paper-printed compendium. In 1997 I began its move to the Internet. The move seems to have caused two interesting things to happen. First, the number of entries increased enormously. Second, the directory became a much more international listing.

The directory is available in two forms:

 The "asp" document polls the database in real time and returns the most up-to-date information.

 The "static" document may be several days old.

 The "asp" document requires such a long time to compile and deliver that many users find that their machines "time out" before the directory is delivered. If you experience this problem, opt for the "static" document
