Chris Whitcomb's Art History site is the most useful compilation of art history resources on the WWW. It is large, but broken into periods and topics. The site leads to many image resources. It is often the first place I turn to when searching out information and images.

Digital Medievalist Project From the page:

The Digital Medievalist Project is an international web-based Community of Practice for medievalists working with digital media. It was established in 2003 to help scholars meet the increasingly sophisticated demands faced by designers of contemporary digital projects.

Membership in the Digital Medievalist Project is open to anyone with an interest in its subject matter, without regard to skill or previous experience in Humanities Computing. Participants range from novices contemplating their first project to many of the pioneers in our field.

The project is hosted at the University of Lethbridge, and overseen by an international executive of medievalists with extensive experience in the use of digital media.

University of Virginia Digitization Guidelines (PDF) Very helpful!

BBC's Video Nation Good material on video. Access to videos. Especially useful for video images. Other parts of the BBC offer good advice on the practical aspects of video and audio production.

History in Review Multitude of links to various periods of history. Many lead to images.

The Ecole Initiative Hosted at Evansville, "The Early Church On-Line Encyclopedia (Ecole) Initiative is a cooperative effort on the part of scholars across the internet to establish a hypertext encyclopedia of early Church history (to the Reformation) on the World-Wide Web. In principle, authors of the various articles that make up the encyclopedia maintain their own articles at their own locations." An index of images is also available.
