We offer a major in art history. Our rationale in offering the program was that art history is a good place to get a good liberal arts education. 

I remember when I was an undergraduate at the University of Alabama in the '60s art history was an emphasis area in the BA art program. I was the first student in several years to declare the emphasis and I got a lot of personal attention from the two art historians on the staff. It was a good experience.
