| Current research in the area of intercultural communication involves the examination of cultural evolution, i.e., how a culture changes over time. Many researchers think of cultures as static entities; however, cultures do change. Specifically, the culture of Nepal was chosen because of its unique characteristics. Until 1950 it was isolated from the rest of the world and was basically a medieval kingdom. Today, tourism is very important economically and the country is struggling to adapt to the changing world around it. This country provides a good opportunity to study how a culture evolves over time. If you click on Photos, you can see why Nepal is such a fascinating place to observe.
