The book The Seals on the Bus gives a new and amusing spin to the song “The Wheels on the Bus.” An unsuspecting family of four is joined on the bus by seals, geese, rabbits, monkeys, vipers, sheep, skunks, and a tiger. Instead of beeping the horn and swishing the wipers, children hiss with the snakes and honk with the geese all around the town. The illustrations are fun and show the multitude of expressions the family members have when a new animal boards the bus. Brian Karas use of gouache, acrylic, pencil, and cut paper gives the reader a splendid picture of the written words. Children will find pleasure in both song and illustrations while learning various animal sounds. (Trade Book)
