Volume 6, Children's Issue

What a fun and exciting issue!  We are fortunate to have guest reviewers for this issue of “Sparks.”  Our reviewers of the featured books for “young children” are students in Jamie Crain’s third-grade class.  I hope you will find their reviews as refreshing and insightful as we did.

In reading and writing, one major emphasis is having the students write for authentic reasons!  Ms. Crain’s student reviews are a great example of this!  What is more authentic than “seeing” your work actually published in a journal?  I hope the children had as much fun completing the reviews as I did reading them.  I hope you feel the same sense of joy and pride in our children when you read their work!

The selections for this issue are varied in hopes that that everyone interested in reading will be “sparked.”  From historical fiction to modern fantasy to information, you find a book review with which you are sure to “fall “in love.

Have a wonderful time perusing this issue and the wonderful reviews by children!  Many thanks to Ms. Crain and her students who made this issue possible!
