Wingwalker is a great story about Reuben, a second grader, who has been living in the  small town of Amber, Oklahoma.  The story is set during the Depression and most people have lost their jobs and used all their savings.  Reuben’s father takes a job as a Wingwalker, a person who dances on the wings of airplanes.  Reuben’s family moves to Minnesota where he meets people that are totally different from him.  Rosemary Wells gives us a story that is fantastic for children who have fears to overcome and are learning to adjust to a new location.  (Trade Book)
