This collection of 15 poems contains 3 poems for each of the 5 senses. The author uses animals when describing the five senses. The majority of the poetry is inviting; however, some of the poetry seems too advanced. Descriptions such as, "salad-krill seal," does not paint an obvious picture of what the author is trying to describe. In addition, “Perhaps they’re lost in a sandstorm or in a lagoon near Khartoum,” for most children, Khartoum is not a familiar place. The illustrations are appropriate for the poetry. I feel that children would not find this book very appealing. (Trade Book)
