Another adventure in the life of Ananse the Spider retold by Pat Cummings. Have you ever wondered why lizards stretch their necks and appear nervous? If so, this legend will answer your questions. Ananse is traveling one day and notices a sign that has been posted by the king. The king is announcing that anyone who can tell him the name of his daughter will receive half of his kingdom and his daughter’s hand in marriage. Later that day Ananse overhears servants talking to the King’s daughter. He hears her name and repeats it to himself in hopes of remembering it. He intends to meet with the King the next morning to receive his just reward. Will Ananse get half of the kingdom, the daughter’s hand in marriage, or will something unforeseen happen? You’ll have to read to find out! A delightful West African tale! (Trade Book)
