Arrowhawk is a beautifully illustrated story about a hawk’s survival after being shot with an arrow by a poacher. This is a story based on a teacher’s experience following the tail of an injured hawk with her fourth-grade students. A hawk, properly named Arrowhawk, was shot through his thigh and tail. This is his story of an eight week journey south and the obstacles that he faced. Swiatkoska’s illustrations help the reader visualize what Arrowhawk went through. She uses acrylic on cold-pressed paper to create these breathtaking illustrations. (Trade Book)
