III. Familiarize yourselves with the societies discussed in Chapters 9-11. Also, consider the questions at the end of each chapter. Finally, review the descent systems in Chapter 10 and be able to identify members of patrilineal and matrilineal descent systems, as well as ego’s cross and parallel cousins. Since I made such a big deal of it, I’ll probably also ask you a few questions about folklore.
