The Master of Science in Education degree program in Counselor Education prepares students to be school counselors. The program meets the preparation requirements for K-12 school counselor certification in Arkansas . Currently, the program requires successful completion of 48 hours of specified coursework which is consistent with the counselor training standards set by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs. Some modifications in program requirements are made in order to prepare students for school counselor certification in states other than Arkansas. Students completing the program are eligible to seek other credentials.

Application to the program is made through the Graduate School. Students applying to programs in the College of Education are required to take the Miller Analogies Test. Students admitted to the program have available to them financial assistance and academic advisement.
