Master of Physical Therapy (MPT): The graduating physical therapist from ASU will have completed a graduate level degree, after completing an undergraduate degree. Upon successful completion of the Graduate Program, the student is eligible to take the national physical therapy licensing examination. Upon successfully passing the national licensing exam, the new physical therapist can then provide client assessment, evaluation, and treatment for the prevention/correction of physical disability, movement dysfunction, and pain resulting from injury, disease, disability, or other health related conditions. A particular emphasis in our case based curriculum is the acquisition of critical thinking and decision making skills for the entry level clinician to practice in a direct access environment. Physical therapists typically practice in hospitals, ambulatory health clinics, home health, independent practices, specialized clinics, schools or higher education institutions, research centers, industry wellness and fitness centers, HMOs, extended care facilities, and nursing homes.
