Masters of Rehabilitation Counseling
Arkansas State University
Jonesboro, Arkansas

Curriculum

The Masters of Rehabilitation (MRC) program is accredited by the Council on Rehabilitation Education (CORE). CORE accredits natinal and international rehabilitation counseling programs. The program’s curriculum is guided by CORE and the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification (CRCC). The program’s curriculum, via its CORE accreditation status, is recognized by the Arkansas State Board of Examiners in Counselors.

The curriculum focuses on preparing the program’s graduates to provide professional counseling and related services to individuals with disabilities and their significant others. The program’s curriculum provides broad instruction regarding disability type and chronological age of consumers/clients. Students who are interested in providing counseling and related services to individuals who have specific types of disabilities, are in a specific age-range, and/or want to work in a specific employment setting are encouraged to develop specific competencies related to their professional interests.

The MRC program is a minimum 48-semester hour program. Students who complete the 48-hour academic program and its comprehensive examination are eligible to graduate from Arkansas State University (ASU) with a Masters of Rehabilitation Counseling degree. They are eligible, academically, to become Certified Rehabilitation Counselors (CRC).

Graduates are eligible to seek counselor licensure in the State of Arkansas, upon meeting the Arkansas Board of Examiners in Counseling's academic requirements. Applicants and MRC students who intend to seek counselor licensure in other states are responsible to become familiar with the individual requirements of any particular state of interest and request appropriate program planning.
