Masters of Rehabilitation Counseling
Arkansas State University
Jonesboro, Arkansas

Accreditation

Arkansas State University (ASU) is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). The Masters of Rehabilitation Counseling (MRC) program has maintained accreditation by the Council on Rehabilitation Education (CORE) throughout its extensive history. The MRC program is housed in the Department of Psychology and Counseling within the College of Education, which is accredited by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).

Established in 1969, ASU's MRC program was the first master’s level rehabilitation counseling program developed in the State of Arkansas. As of August 5, 2005, approximately 470 individuals have entered the workforce as holders of the MRC degree.

The underlying focus of the MRC program has not changed over its 36-year history. The MRC program is committed to preparing rehabilitation professionals to provide counseling and related services to individuals with disabilities and their significant others, regardless of their race, ethnicity, age, gender or other personal characteristics.

The ever-changing realities of living with a disability demand an insightful and responsive educational experience for rehabilitation professionals. Accordingly, the MRC program remains committed to identifying and meeting the rehabilitation counseling needs of persons with disabilities, and the corresponding academic needs of future rehabilitation counseling professionals.
