Exercise 29 - Blood

Using the animal blood provided, make and stain a blood smear and do a differential white cell count. Be able to recognize and give a function for eosinophils, basophils, neutrophils (PMN's and bands), lymphocytes, monocytes, erythrocytes and platelets. Know the relative numbers of leukocytes that you would expect to find in a normal human blood smear.

Determine the blood type of an unknown sample of artificial blood. Understand how blood typing works and when Rh factor is significant. Know what antibodies a person with each of the ABO blood groups would naturally produce. Understand the difference between blood clotting and agglutination.
