Calling all students interested in taking this
course online! Finally, here's an outline summarizing features of the
online version of the course. Because of my sluggishness in getting this information
together, I have postponed until the end of this week the deadline for letting me know if
you're interested in pursuing this option. To find out more about the online version
of QM 3523, click here and/or come by and talk to me.
Note that this week, you'll be able (although not required) to attend the F2F
version of the the class as well. |

For people who are running Windows 95 systems but don't have
the Office 97 products, Microsoft has provided (without charge) viewers that allow the
viewing and printing of files created for Excel, PowerPoint, or Word. If you click on any
of the links below, you will be taken to the Microsoft download site for the corresponding
viewer. From there, select the item you wish to download and follow the subsequent
instructions given at that site.
Note that, once you have completed the download, the installation process involves your
locating the downloaded file in Windows Explorer or My Computer and then
double-clicking on that file's icon. Once a viewer is installed, you can also configure
your web browser to use it whenever you click on a link that points to a file readable by
that viewer. (Internet Explorer generally configures itself automatically to do this.) See
me if you need some help with downloading, installation, or browser configuration.

You may wish to download and print the "Introduction and
Overview of OM" and the "Competitive Strategies and Principles" notes to
bring to class this coming week. This is not mandatory, but it may save you from
some unnecessary writing. These notes are available through the Miscellaneous page
at the course web site. It is highly recommended that, if you do print the notes,
you should print them using the "Handouts (3 slides per page)" option or a
similar means of minimizing paper usage. |

Schedule change (day class only): During the
week of 5/31, we will meet on Friday (6/4), as well as on the scheduled days of Tuesday,
Wednesday, and Thursday. This is being done because I must be out of town on Monday
(6/7) and Tuesday of the following week. As a result, there is to be no class
meeting on Monday of that week; instead, that meeting will be made up on Friday of the
previous week. Note that this will be the only time we meet on a Friday. |
