More .NET Troubleshooting
Apparently the .NET framework doesn't install properly in VStudio 2003, so,
in order to work with any server-side applications, you'll likely need to do the
following after you completed the primary
installation.
- Before starting, get a copy of the VStudio installation disks
- Go to Add/Remove Programs (in Control Panel)
- Find "Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1"
- Remove it
- Upon completion of the removal process, you'll need to reboot
- Once you're rebooted, insert Disk 1 of the VStudio set
- Click on the Install Prerequisites line
- If you're asked to reboot again, do so (simply click on OK in the final
message box)
- When asked, insert the Prerequisites disk
- Browse to Office11\English\VS.Net2003_Prerequisites and then click OK
- Wait as the installation proceeds
- When the prerequisite installation is complete click Exit
- Click on the Done link when you get back to the main VStudio
installation screen
- As a final step, open IIS, stop the default website (right-click on
"Default Web Site" and then select "Stop"), and then restart it
