Installing Visual Studio .NET 2003

First, ensure that IIS (Internet Information Services) is installed:

• You must have Windows 2000 or Windows XP Professional installed for this to occur

• If IIS is installed, you can tell by going to Start | Control Panel | Administrative Tools and looking at the list

• If you don't see IIS

  • Go to Start | Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs

  • Click on the Add/Remove Windows Components icon

  • Check the Internet Information Services box, click on Next, and proceed as directed

Insert Disc 1 into your CD-ROM drive

            Auto-Run should begin, if not, double click on setup.exe

Setup Screen will appear

Click on Visual Studio .NET Prerequisites *

            It will ask you to insert the prerequisites disk

            * If a box appears that is titled Web Project Requirements, click SKIP

Once the prerequisites disk is inserted click the Browse button**

            Browse to: Office11\English\VS.Net2003_Prerequisites

            **Note: if Auto-Run starts when disk is inserted, close out the folder window that opens**

Click OK

Click OK

On the Visual Studio .NET Prerequisites Setup screen click I Agree

Click Continue

Click Install Now

Once installed, click Done

Visual Studio .NET setup screen will reappear

Click Visual Studio .NET

Remove the Prerequisites disk and insert Disk 1 into CD-ROM drive

After inserting disk, click OK on the insert disk screen

Click I agree on the Setup Start Page

Then click Continue

Click Install Now

About half way through the installation a screen will ask you to insert Disc 2

Insert Disc number 2 and click OK

Once complete, click Done

On the Visual Studio .NET setup screen click Exit

You will see a screen that says Security Updates are highly recommended…Check for security updates.  Click YES

This will take you to the Windows Update site and will install all updates for your system. Depending on how many you need, this may take quite a while. If you wish to continue click Express Install

Once the updates are installed, if you needed any, the installation of Visual Studio .NET 2003 is complete.
