The portfolio should include only the best works. These may
include drawings, design work, painting, ceramics, sculpture,
printmaking, jewelry, or any other media. Every object submitted
must be labeled with the applicant's name and address.
There are two methods of submitting a portfolio
1. A portfolio folder may be purchased at an art supply store
or constructed by hand in the following manner:

- Cardboard, chipboard or mat board may be used for the sides.
- Tape is used for the hinge along one edge.
- Attach shoestring or ribbon ties on the open edges to
contain the work. (Drill or punch hole, insert half
shoestring, glue end down flat.)
- Print your name, address, and high school name (if
applicable) on the outside.
- The size of the portfolio should be just large enough to
protect the contents.
2. Color slides, 2 x 2 inches, may be placed in one or two
clear plastic slide storage sleeves. The sleeves measure
approximately 9 x 11 inches and hold up to 20 slides each.
- Each slide must be labeled: name, address, art medium,
dimensions.
- Ceramics, sculpture, other three-dimensional objects may be
represented by two or three slides each taken from different
angles.
- A plastic slide storage sleeve may be submitted along with
other art works in a portfolio folder.
Color slides of poor quality should NOT be submitted; the
applicant's work is not shown to good advantage by unflattering
slides.
A portfolio should contain the following:
- From 10 to 20 of the applicant's best original works in any
media.
- Do not submit copies of photographs or copies of another
artist's work
- Art works do not have to be matted. Neatly matted works make
a better presentation; poorly cut or grubby mats present an
unfavorable impression of the work.
- Every item must be labeled with name and address.
- If some works are too large to fit into a portfolio folder,
and the applicant does not wish to submit color slides of
them, the original works may be submitted alongside the
portfolio folder and must be labeled clearly.
- Two letters of recommendation
