
The Arkansas State University Department of Music is part of the College of Fine Arts, the only College of Fine Arts in Arkansas. Arkansas State University, with over 400 faculty, is divided into 9 colleges offering degree programs in 90 undergraduate and graduate fields to over 10,000 students.
As a music student, you will be involved in one of the most progressive and nurturing university environments in the region. You will work with a truly resident faculty active nationally and internationally who will challenge you to develop your talents and hone your skills to the fullest, while encouraging you to expand your horizons and realize your goals.
Your ensemble performances and stage productions will take place in the beautiful Fowler Center.
Dominating the arts scene in Northeast Arkansas and beyond, professional programming includes the Fowler Center Series, which has featured a diverse selection of internationally acclaimed performers such as Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Chamber Orchestra Kremlin, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Maynard Ferguson, the Peking Acrobats, Rockapella, the Vienna Boys Choir, Mark O’Connor, Paul Galbraith, the Three Irish Tenors and the King Singers, among others. The Fowler Center is also home to the Liberty Bank distinguished Lecture Series, which has brought President William Jefferson Clinton and General Colin L. Powell to our stage.
You will also be exposed to the talents of artists through the University Lecture/Concert Series as well as concerts and master classes offered by other guest artists. Recent and future guests include Capella of Russia, Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, Memphis Symphony Orchestra, Delta Symphony Orchestra, Vienna Piano Trio, Time for Three, Thunder Drums of China, legendary jazz great Buddy Collette, pianist Jennifer Blyth, Luna Nova, clarinetist Marian Liebowitz, and 13-string guitarist Anders Miolin.
You can pursue undergraduate and graduate degrees in performance, education, or composition as well as combine your music studies with other areas through the Bachelor of Arts Degree and Interdisciplinary studies. The high level of interaction with the faculty and your peers will help insure your musical and professional success.
