Richard Jorgensen

Richard Jorgensen is Professor of Music at Arkansas State University where he teaches trumpet. He joined the music department faculty in 1975 and is a founding member of the Arkansas State University Brass Quintet. As a charter member of the International Trumpet Guild, he has performed at several international conferences. In 1999, he was asked to Chair the Mock Orchestra Competition held at the ITG Conference at the University of Richmond. He also performed at the International Brass Congress at Indiana University in 1998, and in 1999, he was selected to adjudicate the National Trumpet Competition held at George Mason University in Fairfax, VA.

Mr. Jorgensen has a large studio of university trumpet majors and minors. He places great emphasis on developing performance versatility in classical, jazz, and commercial music. Many of Mr. Jorgensen's former trumpet students have been accepted into prestigious graduate programs, symphony orchestras, and military bands. He is also very proud of his former students who are successful teachers in top public school and university programs. Mr. Jorgensen also maintains a large studio of high school students who regularly earn top spots in the Arkansas All-State Bands and Jazz Bands.

Mr. Jorgensen has been Principal Trumpet of the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra since 1976. With that group he performs more than 50 concerts each year in Little Rock and other cities around the state. This fall he will perform the famous "Trumpet Concerto" by Hummel with the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra. He is also 1st Trumpet with the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra Brass Quintet and Solo Trumpet with the Arkansas Bach Chorus. He is also in demand as a clinician and adjudicator throughout the Mid-South.

In the summer, Mr. Jorgensen is the Concert Manager for the Interlochen Arts Festival in Michigan.
