Bachelor of Music in Performance

The Bachelor of Music in Performance is designed for those who wish to prepare for a professional performance and teaching career. The requirements highlights below reflect the specialty requirements in the following areas: Instrumental Performance, Voice Performance, Keyboard Performance, and Composition.  Students desiring to teach in elementary or secondary schools should elect the Bachelor of Music Education degree.

Bachelor of Music Education- Vocal

The BME is our most popular degree.  Leading to teacher certification in Arkansas and/or Missouri, it is a comprehensive program with broad musical requirements.  This degree program also includes education classes taught by the College of Education faculty. This degree is open to voice and keyboard peformers.

The BME is our most popular degree.  Leading to teacher certification in Arkansas and/or Missouri, it is a comprehensive program with broad musical requirements.  This degree program also includes education classes taught by the College of Education faculty.  A unique feature of the instrumental degree is the emphasis on teaching techniques of all band instruments. Applicants should have an extensive background in at least one band or orchestral instrument, including private lessons and experience in bands and orchestras.

Bachelor of Arts with a Major in Music

The BA degree with a major in music is designed for those who want a career in music but are drawn neither toward performance nor education.  This degree requires a minor subject area which may or may not be directly related to your musical career plans.  This is our most flexible degree.

Language Requirement

 

 

6-12 Hours required of foreign language.  Credit hours are determined by high school credits.
