This pious-looking fellow is Cesare Borgia, Duke de Valentinois. He makes a mockery of truth by hiding his crossed-fingers under his beard. Everybody should be able to see that he's lying, but he and his zealous followers tell the same big lies over and over while claiming virtuous and righteous values as their own. Religious zeal justifies their corrupt activities. Impossible feats are credited to this arrogant show-off who is said to behead bulls with a single stroke of a broadsword and straighten iron horseshoes with a simple twist of his wrist. His legend grows through sheer terror, warfare, murder, and lies. They say his family is charming -- no one dares to speak the gruesome truth.
