Wm Allen behind a stack of books and papers
"Leave me alone! I have paperwork to do!"

In case you didn't recognize him, this fellow is Dr. William Allen, Professor of Art History.

The photograph was made in 1990 when he was Dean of Fine Arts, but he was never able to get all that paperwork behind him.

Eventually, he purchased a computer and got it hooked up to the Internet. He hasn't opened a book since.

Today he reads webpages and writes a different language called HTML.His office is in the Center for Learning Technologies.

William Allen in his office having a heart-to-heart talk with his plants. He has to stand, because every chair is taken by his friends, all of whom are potted.

Students: Note the doughnut-shaped black object on the floor in the extreme lower left corner. It is known as a "slide carousel" and is seldom seen in a classroom today.

This photograph was made November 17, 1993, and is evidence of times past when Allen used 35mm color slides in his art history lectures.
