Mission Statement

The special education faculty contribute to the quality of services provided to individuals with exceptional learning and adjustment needs by (1) preparing high quality personnel to provide direct and indirect education services; (2) collaborating with schools, agencies, and related-service providers to provide training and technical assistance; and (3) conducting research which contributes to the understanding of exceptional learners, and improves the quality of instruction provided to special education personnel and to exceptional learners. In pursuing these activities the faculty recognize the importance of developing service providers who are technologically literate and able to engage in critical, data-based, problem-solving.
