COST ACCOUNTING I LIBRARY/ETHICS/COMMUNICATIONS ASSIGNMENT FALL 2006

Requirement 1: ETHICS
1. Write a page or two defining ethics and ethical behavior. Your written explanations should include both an investigation into what others feel constitutes ethical behavior and a discussion of ethics in your own words, your own feelings.
2. Assume you are an accountant for a CPA firm. Write a one or two page story that presents you with an ethical situation you must deal with. Write your story such that the legal implications are minimized and the ethical constraints are maximized.
3. Once you have written you story, write an explanation of how you handled the situation.

Requirement 2: INTERNATIONAL
Write a page or two on the need to include elements of an international perspective in the course curriculum. Necessary or unnecessary. Useful or useless. Take a point of view and then defend your view. Back up your view with at least one library reference, perhaps a journal article. .
Requirement 3: LIBRARY
Find two articles from recent copies of Management Accounting dealing with topics covered in Cost Accounting I. Read the article carefully and write a one or two page summary of the article. Make a copy of the first page of the article. Staple your summary and the first page of the article. Turn in. Management Accounting is an academic journal. If you have trouble finding the journal, ask the reference librarian for assistance.

COST ACCOUNTING I EXTRA CREDIT WORK FALL 2006
This is not a required assignment. If you decide to complete the project, you may earn up to 10 extra points. This project is due November 14, 2006 for those deciding to participate. The work is to write a paper titled “The value of non-value-added activities”. You need to have at least 10 references. Five may come from the internet and the other five must come from the library. You will need a title page, an outline, a body, and a list of references. The total pages for the title page, outline, body, and references should not exceed 10 pages with double spacing and a 10 or 12 pt. font. If you have any questions, ask.
