Welcome to Agricultural Education
The mission of the Agricultural Education program is to prepare students to enter the profession of agricultural education or a related career. To accomplish this we provide a quality academic degree program and various extracurricular activities which help students develop the technical and professional knowledge they will need to succeed in life. Although many of our graduates choose to enter the teaching profession many choose other career opportunities in Business and industry and they are quiet successful.
The Department of Agricultural and Extension Education at ASU offers degree programs at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
In addition to providing degree programs in agricultural education, we offer non-degree adult education and career education certification programs. In addition we have a commitment to leadership development and to the broadening of our students through service learning and international travel opportunities. We strongly encourage our students to participate in student organizations within the College of Agriculture and especially we want them to join the Collegiate FFA early in their college experience. We also have an honorary organization called the Alpha Tau Alpha. If / when you are invited to join we encourage you to join and be an active member.
The faculty in Agricultural Education are student-oriented and committed to helping students achieve their educational goals. I encourage you to contact one of the two faculty in Agricultural Education regarding questions or additional information about our programs. My email is dagnew@astate.edu or call me at 870-972-2453.
