Career Orientation

How to Register    Enroll in Grad School

VOED 4/5533 Methods and Materials of Teaching Career Orientation
VOED 4/5513 Hands-on Activities in Career Orientation

What is Career Orientation? In Arkansas Career Education is Required of all students enrolled in public school. Students at the 7th or 8th grade level enroll usually for one semester. They learn about who they are and what skills or aptitudes they have, what they might like to do in a career, how to research a career option, and they gain an overview of the 15 career clusters.

Requirements for CO Certification -- Two courses are offered each summer which will certify you to teach career orientation. However, you first must have secondary teacher certification or be in the process of working toward certification in some other subject area. By just taking two required courses in the summer you become certified to teach another subject matter. The two courses are, VOED 4/5533 Methods and Materials of Teaching Career Orientation and VOED 4/5513 Hands on Activities in Career Orientation

Why enroll in Career Orientation Courses? To gain an additional certification that will help you be more qualified and have the edge on another applicant for a job. You may take it for either graduate or undergraduate credit.
