FICTION WRITING WORKSHOP WITH BEVERLY LOWRY

SATURDAY, MARCH 29, 8:30-10:45 AM

In conjunction with the Delta Blues Symposium IX: Defining the Delta, Arkansas State University’s Dept. of English & Philosophy will sponsor a creative writing workshop for fiction writers.

The fiction workshop will be conducted by award-winning writer Beverly Lowry.  Born in Memphis and raised in Greenville, Mississippi, Lowry earned a BA from the then Memphis State University and now is a professor of creative writing at George Mason University.  She has published several novels, among them the Delta classics Come Back, Lolly Ray, Emma Blue and The Track of Real Desires.  She has also garnered much acclaim for her book, Crossed Over, a nonfiction account of her friendship with Karla Faye Tucker and a meditation on the loss of her own son.  Her forthcoming book is a biography of Madame C.J. Walker, titled Her Dream of Dreams.

Participation in either workshop will be limited, and students must pre-enroll.  Submit 10-15 double spaced pages of fiction.  Send name, address, phone number, e-mail address (if available), along with your manuscript (don’t send your only copy!) to:
