Schistura spekuli Kotelat, 2002

 
Common Name:  None given
Etymology:  spekuli (L) after SPEKUL, the name of a caving club of the University of Leuven, Belgium.
Major Synonyms: 
History: Holotype and paratype collected by Nele Philips and Lieven de Bontridder on 5 January 2002.
   

Morphological Characteristics:  Up to 150 mm TL.  Body elongated with a small bump behind the head.  Head and snout depressed.  Body anteriorly depressed and then compressed posteriorly.  Pectoral fin triangular.  Incomplete lateral line.

Troglomorphic Characters: 

Eye Condition:  Not externally visible.
Pigmentation:  Depigmented.
Scales:  Most of the body covered by small and embedded scales.

Distribution:  Vietnam: Lai Chau Province; cave in center of Chi Chu Chai village; (10 km south of Tam Duong); ca. 22o24'N 103o26'E.

   
Habitat and Ecology:  In a pool and connecting streams at about 100 m from the entrance of the cave.  About 200 individuals sighted.   Food and Feeding:  No information available.
