Etymology: spekuli (L) after SPEKUL, the name of a caving
club of the University of Leuven, Belgium.

Morphological Characteristics:
Up to 150 mm TL. Body elongated with a small bump behind the head.
Head and snout depressed. Body anteriorly depressed and then
compressed posteriorly. Pectoral fin triangular. Incomplete
lateral line.

Pigmentation: Depigmented.
Scales: Most of the body covered by small and embedded scales.
