He was a Scotsman and an experienced caver
working for a firm of aircraft engineers (Airwork, with a base in Thamarit).
He also lived in living Dhofar (Oman). With the help of Aileen Mortimer, a
school friend of his sister Glenys, this Andy, or Drew as he was known in the
family, was identified as the son of William Dunsire and Emma Cooper, of
Buckhaven.
Together with M. Gallagher collected 100 dead and 56 live
individuals of
the hypogean population of Garra barreimiae
in May 1980 (Banister et al.
1992).
Garra dunsirei was named
after him.
