Arkansas State University
Radiologic and Imaging Sciences programs do not offer full degrees or
professional clinical courses via online Internet web resources.
However, we do offer some courses via the university Blackboard (trademark
software) online Internet web services.
These courses vary in design;
some are taken completely online and do not require any on-campus
attendance, others require presentations or examinations on-campus, while
still others meet regularly on-campus.
All online Internet web
courses taken via the university Blackboard web site qualify for
ASU-Jonesboro main campus residency course credit.
If you are a current ASU
student, you may access Web for Students to search the current course
schedules for web courses. If you are not a current ASU student,
please contact us at the contacts given at the bottom of this page to find
out what the possibilities are for you.
TAKING ONLINE WEB COURSES
GETTING ONLINE ACCESS
INSTRUCTIONS If you have
successfully registered for one of our Blackboard online Internet web
courses before the first day of class, you will be contacted by the course
professor with instructions on how to gain online access. The exact
procedure varies from one professor to another. If you register for
the course after the first day of class, you are expected to contact the
professor.
EXPECTATIONS WITH ONLINE
COURSES You should expect
your online Internet web course experience to be somewhat different from
traditional classroom, laboratory, or clinical courses. The main
difference is that the student must be self-motivated to do the course
work. Without regular class meetings, keeping up can become a
serious problem. We strongly suggest that you quickly become
familiar with ALL the online options available through the university
Blackboard software website and be prepared to use ANY or ALL options
(this includes announcements, assignments, communication, discussion
boards, external links for downloading documents, lecture slides, surfing
to other websites, etc.). Finally, most online courses expect you
to sign on at least once per week, although some professors will give
more frequent and some will give less frequent assignments.
GETTING ONLINE
You may get to your online Internet web course
via any computer that can access the Internet. The
first time you sign on, you must start at http://learnonline.astate.edu/bbRegisInfo.htm
After you have successfully signed onto your course via Blackboard, you
may use the main Blackboard website to do your course work at
http://blackboard6.astate.edu/ .
This website is quickly available through the "Go to" box on
both the RadSci home page and the main ASU home page.
We want your online Internet
web course experience to be a good one. We believe we are using one
of the best online software packages in Blackboard. We hope you
agree. If you should encounter any problems online, please limit
your frustration to 15-20 minutes, then try to get help from your
professor.
