ADMISSION TO THE NUCLEAR MEDICINE PROGRAM

Classes for new nuclear medicine technology students begin in the Fall semester (August) and run for 15 consecutive months.  During the 15 month program, students participate in a structured rotation sequence through the nuclear medicine departments of the Methodist Healthcare System in Memphis, TN.

To be admitted to the Nuclear Medicine, students must meet one of the requirements listed below:

  1. Completion of a Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) approved Associate Degree Program in Radiologic Technology.

  • graduation from a JRCERT approved school of Radiologic Technology

  • a passing score on the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certification examination

When both requirements have been met, the Chair of the Department of Radiologic Sciences will formally notify the Office of Admissions & Records and credit will be recorded on the student's transcript for 50 hours of ASU Radiologic Technology courses.

Applicants to the Nuclear Medicine Technology Program are selected by the Admissions Committee, using the following criteria:

  • Cumulative grade point average

  • Selected course grades

  • Interview

The above criteria are converted to a point system.  Selection is competitive and only 6 slots are available.
